Summer recreation offers bait fishing from the shore, in a boat or from a float tube. June Lake has four lakes in the loop and several in the surrounding canyons along with rivers and streams to catch trophy-sized Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout, Cutthroat Trout, and Brown Trout. Fly-fishing is a favorite along Rush Creek. Some of our popular local fishing spots include: June Lake, Gull Lake, Silver Lake, Grant Lake, Walker Lake, Parker Lake, Reverse Creek, and Rush Creek.

Backpacking in June Lake
The June Lake Loop offers easy access to the Pacific Crest Trail. An experienced backpacker can travel from the Silver Lake area all the way to Yosemite Valley in a matter of days. There are many backcountry lakes to visit including Agnew, Gem and Thousand Islands Lakes. Alger's Lake is a popular destination for anglers in search of the Golden Trout. Explore the famous Ansel Adams trails. Stop at any local shop or lodging facility for information on hiking trails.

Horsebacking Riding
Explore the magnificent Ansel Adams/Minaret Wilderness area on horseback. Frontier Pack Train offers hour-long, half day and all day excursions with an experienced guide. Horseback riding in the Sierra Nevada is a great afternoon family event for ages 6 and up. Frontier Pack Train also offers a 4-day trail drive each year to bring the horses and mules up to their summer home in June Lake from Bishop.

Rock Climbing
The June Lake Loop has so many rock climbing opportunities. Mountain Guides offers full service guided trips for all levels of experience. During the winter months The Mountain Guide offers classes in winter camping, ice climbing and more. If you are interested in rock or ice climbing June Lake is a wonderful place to learn how.

Skiing opportunities for everyone, whether you are a beginner or prefer the double diamonds, June Mountain has terrain for you. Short lift lines make this a great place to spend the day. The Chalet has great food or visit the Antler Bar for a cocktail.
