Snowmobile trail maps are available at the Mammoth Lakes Visitors Center on Hwy. 203, as you enter town. Want to go where you want to go? No guides, no crowds - the adventure is all yours! Advanced reservations are recommended by calling 760-934-0347. Mammoth Mountain offers guided two-hour to full day excursions rentals.

Cross-Country Skiing & Snowshoeing trails are scattered in and around the town of Mammoth Lakes. Many of the trails begin at the US Forest Service Visitors Center near Shady Rest Campgrounds. The Inyo Craters Trail is 8 km round trip, moderate /easy, and can be found off the Scenic Loop road out of town. This trail is relatively flat, well-used, with a good destination. If you want to break your own trail, there are plenty of opportunities around town, some steep, some flat, and lots of snow! Maps are available at the Visitors Bureau and you can rent the latest equipment at Kittredge Sports on Main Street, or venture over to the Tamarack Cross-Country Ski Center in the Lakes Basin on Old Mary Road. They have 30 kilometers of groomed track and skating lanes around the Twin Lakes area, equipment rentals and instructors are on site.

Dog Sledding! Yell mush! And six Huskies forge ahead as you take in the magnificent mountain scenery of Mammoth Mountain, snuggled in an authentic dog sled. You can find this exciting adventure at the Main Lodge Ski area.

Winter Fishing . . . areas of the Owens River below Crowley Lake are open year-round. While it may be snowing in Mammoth, the weather 20 minutes south can be quite pleasant.
